the Touch of Sunshine

Life Philosophy the Touch of Sunshine
"I am a firm believer that every individual has a special gift that is unique to them. The individual may not always be conscious of what this gift is, but it becomes the driving force behind choosing what path to follow in life. Throughout my life, I had numerous jobs where I worked as a volunteer for the handicapped and the elderly. I was able to motivate those who were down, give new hopes to those who were sick, and touch the hearts of those in need of love. At first, I was not conscious of my special gift, but I soon began to realize that I had the ability to have a positive affect on peoples lives. I consider myself very lucky not only because I am aware of this gift, but because I have the opportunity to make it a part of my life. With much faith, determination, and most of all, support from my family and friends, I chose to pursue a career in physical therapy." Her philosophy to give remains the same and her gift of giving through her hands continues to grow with each passing day.
Background
Peggy graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA in May, 1993 with a Masters degree in Physical Therapy. For three years after graduation, Peggy worked as a physical therapist in both acute care and rehabilitation hospitals. During these years, Peggy had a strong focus on treatment of the neurologically involved patient. In 1996, Peggy's focus changed to pediatrics. She worked with children ages 3 to 18 years old who presented a wide range of disabilities and diagnoses. She worked at the following hospitals: New York University Hospital-Rusk Instititute in New York, NY; Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence, RI; and the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Cape and Islands, in East Sandwich, MA.
In October, 1998, Peggy began her training in CranioSacral Therapy (CST) through the Upledger Institute. Peggy quickly understood the value of this new treatment modality. As she reflected on the pediatric population she was presently working with, Peggy thought how special it would be to work with a child in the beginning of their life. Consequently, in 1999, she began working with newborns to age three years old, as an early intervention physical therapist. Traditional physical therapy was a big part of her treatment, however a strong focus on CST was incorporated into each session. Peggy found it to be a gift to use CST with these children and observe positive changes that helped improve their development. She found the impact of using CST with this population amazing.
Presently, Peggy continues to work part-time for the Richie McFarland Children's Center in Stratham, NH. Her most important job, aside from treating these children is to educate their parents about simple skills they can use to further assist their child's progress. Since Peggy took her first course in CST, in 1998, she has reached out to help all those around her in need. From her spouse, her parent's and in-laws, her friends, co-worker and extended family. Using CST to help others was just part of Peggy's life. After placing her hands on all those she works with, Peggy's goal is to leave them with "the Touch of Sunshine."
